Three persons including Ranjith Dissanayake, Coordinating secretary to and brother of S.B. Dissanayake was arrested on Monday.
They were arrested on charges of threatening a group of UNP supporters on Sunday evening.
The suspects have been released on bail after being produced before the Walapane Magistrate.
The brother of Minister S.B. Dissanayake, Ranjith Dissanayake had threatened the residents after arriving at a house in Akiriya in Hanguranketha on Sunday.
The owner of the house says that he was threatened because he had organised an UNP rally in the area.
Our correspondent stated that UNP Central Provincial Councillor Jayalath Dissanayake, another sibling of Minister S. B. Dissanayake, was to preside at that particular public rally.
Meanwhile residents of Rikillagaskada protested against the failure to arrest Ranjith Dissanayake.
UNP Central Provincial Councillor Jayalath Dissanayake also visited the scene of the demonstration. The protesters continued their occupation citing their mistrust of a mere statement that the suspect would be arrested.
