Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya this morning.The Former President met with the Chief Incumbent of the Viharaya, Venerable Walawahengunawewe Dhammarathana Thero and obtained blessings.
Following this meeting, Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that all development activities have come to a halt and this could result in countless number of workers loosing their jobs. He stated thatthe government needs to be more sensitive on this issue.
Responding to questions raised by journalists on the Port City project, Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that he doesn’t think that work on the project would stop adding that if this project is not completed the country would not be able to imagine of such a feat for a century or two.
Speaking on the meeting organised in Nugegoda and Kandy by factions that claim to support the Former President, Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that although he received an official invitation to attend the event in Kandy he was unable to do so due to prior commitments. He went on to note that he would decided on whether or not he would attend the next such meeting ,scheduled to take place in Ratnapura, based on his schedule.
