The Criminal Investigations Department have commenced investigations regarding an individual who allegedly sexually abused a woman whom he met online.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the suspect, who is a resident of Kalugalpitiya, Badulla, had five complaints previously lodged against him.

Police say the accused has fled the area, and are seeking the support of the public in apprehending him.

The public are requested to call the police on 0112-422-176 if they have any information regarding the suspect.
