Various programmes were organised on Thursday as well in support of New Democratic Front Candidate, Maithripala Sirisena.
A group of leaders of political parties that have pledged support to Maithripala Sirisena and party members marched to the Elections Secretariat on Thursday under the theme, “Where is justice, where is the Elections Commissioner” and staged a Satyagraha.
The group held a Satyagraha opposite the Elections Secretariat for several hours, demanding that the Elections Commissioner enforce the law to cease illegal campaigning including the misuse of state property.
Menawhile, a group of members of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party and other leftist parties, pledged their commitment towards the victory of Maithripala Sirisena, at an event held on Thursday morning.
The event was held at the vicinity of a statue of the late Dr. N.M. Perera, on Kotte Road in Rajagiriya.
The event was dubbed, “The Pledge of the Centre of the Left”.
The Trade Union Collective for a Just Society, also held a media briefing today and pledged their support to Maithripala Sirisena.
