President Mahinda Rajapaksa held bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on Thursday on the sidelines of the 18th SAARC Summit currently underway in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Presidential Media Unit stated that the discussion was mainly based on further consolidating economic ties between the two countries.
The Pakistan Premier, during the discussions, said terrorism posed a regional threat and that steps will be taken, with cooperation among regional countries, to eliminate its prevalence in the region.
The President meanwhile acknowledged the support rendered by Pakistan during the time of war in Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also invited President Rajapaksa to pay an official visit to Pakistan.
On Wednesday, President Rajapaksa had held bilateral talks with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
