Investigations launched into pre-dawn accident that killed Uva CM’s staff members

An investigation has been launched into the motor accident involving the jeep transporting security officials of Uva Province Chief Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa earlier Tuesday morning.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the investigations are being carried out under the direction of the Monaragala SP. Three people including two police officers were killed while four others sustained serious injuries in the accident which took place at around 1.30 on Tuesday morning.

SSP Rohana said that a Police Sub Inspector and a Police Sergeant attached to the Ministerial Security Division and another individual were killed in the accident.

He added that four police constables, who were critically injured in the accident, have been admitted to the Sirigala Hospital.
