Steps are being taken to confiscate assets worth Rs.68.5 million, which belonged to Kudu Laalitha, an underworld figure who was killed in police fire in Athurugiriya recently.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana noted that evidence is being collected for this purpose. Police say that Lalithya Kaushalya alias Kudu Laalitha was a third tier member of the drug peddling racket in the country.

Police also stated that Lalithya, who had four warrants against him when he was gunned down, was the owner of three luxury homes in Bomiriya, Korathota and Thalangama and the owner of two luxury vehicles.

Police added that property earned through illegal means can be confiscated by the state.
