Elections Secretariat officials visit Uva Province

The Elections Secretariat has received 132 complaints of election law violations with regard to the Uva Provincial Council Elections thus far. A group of officials from the Elections Secretariat including Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L Ratnayake are currently on an official visit to the Uva Province.

The Additional Elections Commissioner noted that the purpose of their visit is to inquire into affairs surrounding the Uva Provincial Council poll which will be held on September 20.
The Elections Secretariat has received 81 complaints from the Moneragala District while 38 complaints have been lodged from the Badulla District.

Eighteen (18) of these complaints have been made in relation to incidents of election violence.Thirty seven (37) complaints have been lodged with regard to illegal cut-outs, posters and banners.

A total of 30 complaints have been received with regard to public officials being employed in political campaigning.
