The main road from Dambulla leading upto Kurunegala will be closed from time to time till September 9 due to urgent renovation work in the Muththettugala Railway Crossing on the Northern Railway Line.

The road within close proximity to the Muththettugala railway crossing will be closed partially from 7 a.m. today till 9 a.m. September 7.

According to the police, the road will be completely closed from 9 a.m. till 1.30 on September 7 and will be partially closed from 1.30 till 9 a.m. the next morning.

In addition, the road will be completely closed from 9 a.m. till 1.30 on September 8 and will be partially closed from 1.30 till 4  a.m. the next day. Police stated that the area could experience heavy traffic during the period and that alternative routes have been introduced to avoid the situation.

Light vehicles could use the Kandewatta Railway Crossing and heavy vehicles could use the Dambulla Road from Muththettugala – Wallawa, Budanapitiya. Police Headquarters adds that vehicles could enter the Kandy  Road through the Rideegama Road through Kiriwawula and the Meegolla junction.
