Former Chief Minister of the North-Eastern Province, Varadaraja Perumal says the current chief ministers elected by people in the northern and eastern provinces have no powers at present

The Hindu newspaper reports that Perumal, the Leader of the Eelam People’s Liberation Front, or EPRLF, had made these remarks while speaking to journalists in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to Indian media, Varadaraja Perumal, also noted that when the Indo-Lanka accord was signed, it was accepted with a guarantee by the Indian government that the 13th Amendment to the constitution would be implemented in totality.
