The Ministry of Health says that reports of Dengue patients in the Western Province have reduced by 40 percent.

Dr. Paba Palihawadana, chief epidemiologist and director of the Central Epidemiological Unit at the Ministry of Health, said that this was as a result of the numerous Dengue eradication workshops and programmes conducted over the past few days.

The final phase of the five-phase programme to eradicate dengue ended July 27.

Dr.Palihawadana said that action will be taken against 887 residents whose houses were found to have breeding places for Dengue mosquitoes.
