The opposition leader who took part in a leaflet distribution campaign in the Madiha area in Galagedara under the Janajaya programme, also attended a meeting in the Girihagama area.
Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed following views:
“Earlier they said that they cannot give any relief until the end of the war. This was the first time a government said they could not grant relief due to the war. Since 1983, various government provided relief. It has been five years since the end of the war. Salaries have not increased, however inflation and prices of goods have. There is no relief for the people. Corruption is rampant. On Thursday we saw what the they did to cover up corruption in the COC, The ……… regime nearly threatened those MPs. They did it to hide corruption.”
