Minister of Public Relations and Public Affairs, Mervyn Silva took part in a discussion with a group of businessmen at the Peliyagoda Urban Council on Thursday.
The discussion focussed on the renovation of the Nawa-Nuge Road, which comes under the purview of the Peliyagoda Urban Council. Individuals who own factories located on this road also took part in the discussions.
Minister of Public Relations and Public Affairs, Mervyn Silva said;
This road is not usable. You live in Peliyagoda, therefore you need to renovate this. I will give you two months for this. If not I will close this road. I do not care who gets angered. If you have any suggestions you can forward them to me. You have to provide five million rupees if not the road will be closed. Kingsley says that, it will cost 20 million rupees for the construction of this road .
A businessman said;
We purchased this land through the insurance. They said that there is a 60 foot road which is well built.
Minister, Mervyn Silva said;
You have not reached an agreement with me. I am in-charge of this Urban Council. All I ask is that you agree to one of the two options. There need not be any discussion .
