One person has been injured following police fire at a lorry that refused to heed orders and pull over in Yaalegama, Kosgoda.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said the lorry travelling towards Colombo from Galle was transporting cattle without necessary permits. A suspect in the lorry sustained a leg injury following police fire, and he has been admitted to the Balapitiya hospital.

Following the shooting, two others in the lorry fled the scene, and police said they only managed to arrest two suspects including the injured individual from the group travelling in the lorry.

SSP Rohana added that one of the three cattle being transported in the lorry was killed.
