About 40 people were injured in the unrest between two groups on June 15, and police say that more than 100 people were arrested on suspicion in connection to the incidents that occurred in the Aluthgama, Beruwala and Welipenne areas.
Twenty-nine individuals who were arrested on suspicion — in connection with the Aluthgama, Beruwala and Welipenna unrest that occurred last month — have been released on police bail.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that investigations are being carried out to arrest 20 more individuals in connection with these incidents.
One hundred and Twenty-Five (125) individuals were arrested on suspicion after the unrest that occurred in the Aluthgama, Beruwala and Welipenne areas.
Police stated that legal action was taken against 96 of these individuals.
Police teams together with the Colombo Crimes Unit, and the Criminal Investigation Department are carrying out further investigations into the incidents.
