Two individuals have been sentenced to death by the Tangalle High Court on charges of murder.

High Court Judge Lalith M. Chandrasekara said the verdict was handed down to residents of the Mondaravana area.

In the year 1998, the suspects were charged with the murder of a woman residing in Mondharavana with a sharp object.

Meanwhile, four persons accused of committing murder in 2002 were sentenced to death by the Kalutara High Court on Thursday.

The verdict was issued by High Court Judge Padman Surasena, when the case against the four suspects — who are residents of Bulathsinhala — was taken up for hearing on Thursday.

The suspects were charged with the murder of an individual in Mahagama, Bulathsinhala who was beaten to death with sharp weapons in 2002.
