Sunday marked the the final day of Uwa Poson Udanaya.
The Poson Udanaya was organized by the Uva Paranagama United Buddhist Society together with Newsfirst.
Incidentally, a road in Uma Ela was also named after Newsfirst on Sunday.
The event, which is centered around the Sri Sudharshanarama Viharaya in Uma Ela Uva Paranagama, commenced under the auspices of the Maha Sangha and invitees .
A Bakthi Gee competition was held in line with the Uva Poson Udayanaya and 10 finalists were chosen to compete.
The winner of the competition was selected by a panel of judges, headed by Veteran Bandaara Athau.
The team representing Welimada Central college won first place, while teams representing Keppetipola Central College and Busdulla College received second and third place respectively.
Devotees were also able to witness the main features of the Poson Zone such as a pandol, songs of devotion as well as a replica of Mihintale.
A special screening of the Sri Siddartha Gautama movie was also held, while Newsfirst screen tests were also conducted.
An art competition for children was also held at the Uva Poson Udanaya on Sunday.
Several children representing various age categories took part in the competition.
Meanwhile, a medical clinic was also conducted at the Sri Sudharshanarama Viharaya in line with the Uva Poson Udanaya.
