Sacred relics of Lord Buddha reach the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya

The sacred relics of Lord Buddha and several Maharath Theros reached the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya on Wednesday.The relics began its journey from the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya Wednesday morning.

The exposition of the sacred relics will begin on Wednesday afternoon at the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya which is sponsored by John Keells Holdings. The Vesak Zone is also supported by S-Lon Lanka Private Ltd.

A large number of devotees flocked to the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya Wednesday morning to pay homage to the sacred relics.

Devotees flocked in their numbers to the roadside as the procession carrying the sacred relics made its way from the Keleniya Raja Maha Viharaya to the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya.

The sacred relics began its journey from the Yatihalgala Raja Maha Viharaya on May 10.

The relics reached the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya at around 12 noon.

The sacred relics of Lord Buddha’s chief disciples, Sariputta and Moggalana Maharath Thero are due to arrive at the Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya on Wednesday afternoon from the Mahabodhi Agrashrawaka Vihara in Maradana.

In addition to the exposition of the sacred relics, the Sirasa Vesak Zone will also feature pandals, songs of devotion and dhansalas, to provide refreshment for devotees.
