Authorities had decided to seek the support of Interpol to apprehend alleged international leaders of the LTTE, Nediyawan and Vinayagam.

Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Ajith Rohana says that the local leaders Gobi, Thevihan and Appan who were killed in Nedunkerni recently, were acting under the instructions of Nediyawan and Vinayagam.

Speaking of the incident, Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Ajith Rohana stated,

“Gobi, Appan and Thevihan who attempted to create communal disharmony in Sri Lanka and engaged in terrorist activity, were killed on Friday. However, they were acting on the instructions of LTTE members Nediyawan and Vinayagam who are currently abroad. There is a warrant for Vinayagam’s arrest. Steps are being taken to arrest him. A red notice has been obtained through Interpol for this warrant. We hope to secure a red notice for the arrest of Nediyawan too in the near future, so that action can be taken through Interpol. We are also collecting intelligence on other people who are part of this network.”
