Minister of External Affairs Professor G.L.Peiris says that a permanent solution to the nation’s issues can be reached through the social and cultural background of the country.

He made this statement during a discussion in Kandy on Monday.

A meeting was convened in order to inform the Maha Sanga with regard to the resolution that will be presented on Sri Lanka at the UNHRC Session in Geneva.

This discussion took place at the meeting room of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. Prof. G.L. Peiris expressed following views:

“In International Law it has been clearly stated that in order for international intervention, space must be given for the country in question to be able to solve their matters domestically.”

“ This is because, if a permanent solution is to be found, that solution must be formed within a cultural and social backdrop,” he noted.
