UNP Colombo District Candidate, S.M. Marikkar charges that certain persons are attempting to secure the votes of the Muslim people and then join the government.

Marikkar made this statement at a public rally held at Armour Street on Monday.

S.M. Marikkar said:

“ There are small factions. Their symbols are peacocks, trees, rats and geckos. They cannot form a government. They are enjoying the privileges of government and are saying that the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress is someone else’s party. “

“Their party is enjoying the privileges of being in government and they know that at election time the Muslim people will not vote for the government because they oppose this government. So they secure the votes of the Muslim people, join the government and then betray the Muslim people who voted against the government,“ he noted.
