It is being reported that Indian fishermen have crossed the maritime boundary into Sri Lankan waters, violating agreements reached between India and Sri Lanka.

The Hindu reports that Indian fishermen have violated bilateral agreements that were reached on January 27..

Reports say that fishermen from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu had crossed the maritime boundary.A News1st team is currently at the Katchatheevu, making inquiries into the problems faced by fishermen there.

News1st made inquiries from Minister of Fisheries Dr. Rajitha Senaratne regarding the maritime boundary violations.He said that he has instructed the Navy to arrest fishermen who violate the agreements that were reached.
