Bangladesh’s woes in the 2014 Asia Cup continued today as they were beaten by tournament underdogs Afghanistan a short while ago.

Put into bat, Afghanistan posted a competitive total of 254 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 50 overs.Asghar Stanikzai top scored for the afghan with an unbeaten 90 runs while Samiullah Shenwari chipped in with 81 runs.

Arfat Sunny bagged two wickets for Bangladesh. Bangladesh who commenced their run chase lost their openers in the within the first two overs of their innings.

Musfiqur Rahim fell cheaply as well as he was undone for 23 runs. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 222 runs in 47.5 overs handing Afghanistan a 32 run victory.

Samiullah Shenwari received the Man of the Match Award.
