VIP/VVIP stickers not important in the eyes of the law?

DIG traffic, Amarasiri Senaratne has directed labels and stickers of all VIP and VVIP vehicles to be removed.

According to the Police Headquarters, the following measures were taken due to reports filed against individuals using VIP and VVIP labels to commit various nefarious acts.

Under the directions issued by the DIG of Traffic, no vehicle can have these VIP and VVIP labels and if these labels are found attached to the windscreen of any vehicle, legal action will be taken.

Meanwhile, IGP Amarasiri said that stern legal action will also be taken against vehicles with tinted windows.The police said that its against the law to travel in vehicles with tinted windows that cover the face of the driver as well as the front row passenger.

The DIG has instructed all police stations to carry out the stern legal action against motorists who have vehicles with tinted window as per the the Motor Vehicle Traffic Law.
