Police discover forged currency in Kalutara

An individual has been arrested with a stock of counterfeit currency notes in his possession from the Kalutara area.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the suspect was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon when he was in the vicinity of a bank. Twenty four counterfeit currency notes of Rs.500  denomination – were allegedly found in the suspect’s possession.

Police stated that they also seized two Rs.5,000  notes, five Rs. 1,000  notes and 137 five hundred rupee notes, as well as 40 undenominated notes from the suspect’s residence. The Kalutara South Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
