Speaking to Newsfirst, the PS chairman said,

“The 2014 Budget of the Pradeshiya Sabha was presented to the chamber today for the second round of voting. Six ruling party members and three opposition members voted against the budget. The opposition leader of the Pradeshiya Sabha abstained from voting. One member left the chambers at the time of the voting. Thereby, nine votes were cast against the budget while only two votes were received in favour. The budget was defeated by a majority of seven votes. Personal issues have led to this. President Mahinda Rajapaksa had emphasised the need to pass this budget. It is not sure under what reasons this took place. ”
