President declares open Siribopura Flyover and largest garden in dry zone

The Mirijavila interchange and the Siribopura Flyover were declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday. A large number of ministers and parliamentarians were present at the occasion.
A new flyover has been constructed at the Siribopura Junction where the Ambalantota – Weerawila road meets with the Hambantota road. A total of Rs.2675 million was spent on the construction of the flyover. Meanwhile the Mirijavila interchange on the Colombo-Galle-Hambantota-Wellawaya main road was also declared open. The interchange was constructed at a cost of Rs.4200 million.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa also declared open the Mirijavila Botanical Gardens on Thursday which is incidentally the first and largest botanical gardens present in the dry zone of the country.
Construction on the botanical gardens which spans across a total of 300 acres began in 2008.The garden is equipped with four summer huts, a restaurant, head-office, gift shop as well as new sanitary system.
