23 Complaints Filed as Coal Commission Closes Submissions

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Presidential Commission appointed to investigate coal procurement transactions is set to close the acceptance of complaints today, marking the end of the submission period for stakeholders to raise concerns related to the process.

The Commission stated that, as of now, a total of 23 complaints have already been submitted by various parties regarding the procurement of coal. 

Complainants have been able to submit their grievances either in person or by post to the Commission office located on the fifth floor of the Judicial Building at No. 12, Adhikarana Mawatha, Sanchi Arachchi Garden , Colombo. 


The Commission noted that all complaints received will be reviewed and investigations are scheduled to commence promptly.

Following the initial review process, individuals may be called to provide evidence as part of the formal inquiry proceedings.

The fully empowered Special Presidential Commission is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gihan Kulatunga. Its other members include Court of Appeal Judge Adithya Patabendige and High Court Judge Sanjeewa Somaratne.
