Elderly Couple Brutally Murdered in Hatton Shop

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police in Hatton have launched a full-scale investigation following the brutal murder of an elderly couple inside their own shop in the Hatton–Dikoya town area.

The victims, both aged 82, have been identified as a husband and wife who were living and operating the small business.

Authorities revealed that the couple’s children, who reside in Colombo, had been attempting to contact their parents by phone but received no response. Growing increasingly concerned, they had alerted neighbours and requested that someone check on the elderly pair.

Acting on the request, neighbours arrived at the shop and opened it, only to uncover the lifeless bodies of the couple inside, bearing injuries consistent with a sharp weapon attack.

The Hatton Police are leading further investigations to identify suspects and establish the circumstances leading to the double murder.
