Global Walk for Peace Enters Day Four, Sacred Journey Continues from Beligammana to Tholangamuwa

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Global Walk For Peace In The Island Of Peace will commence its fourth day this morning (25) from the premises of the Beligammana Raja Maha Viharaya in Kegalle.

The day’s walk is scheduled to conclude at the Tholangamuwa Central College.

The Global Walk For Peace In The Island Of Peace is being held at the request of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the support of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative.

The Maharaja Media Network is the Official Media and Coordination Partner for the Sri Lankan chapter of the Global Walk for Peace.

On the first day of the walk, members of the Maha Sangha, including Venerable Pannakara Thera from Vietnam, accompanied by the famous certified service dog 'Aloka', proceeded from the Rangiri Dambulla Raja Maha Vihara to the Matale Aluvihara, covering a distance of nearly 47 kilometres.

The following day, the Maha Sangha walked from Aluvihare in Matale to the historic city of Kandy on the second day of the walk. 

Yesterday, on its third day the walk commenced its journey from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy and proceeded towards the Beligammana Raja Maha Viharaya in Kegalle. 

The Maha Sangha arrived at the Beligammana Viharaya at approximately 6:00 PM last evening, completing a journey of 25 kilometers.

Following the arrival at the Beligammana Raja Maha Viharaya, two forest were declared as reserves last evening, in line with the Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace.
