COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Navy said 92 parcels containing heroin were discovered aboard the multi-day fishing trawler seized in the deep seas south of Sri Lanka.
Navy Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath stated that the authorities are currently in the process of weighing and valuing the seized narcotics.
Six suspects were taken into custody yesterday during a special search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy.
The vessel was intercepted in the deep waters south of the island.
The suspects and the vessel were brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour this morning, where a detailed inspection of the cargo commenced.
