COLOMBO (News 1st); The evidence examination in the case filed against former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and two others over an alleged 2016 road accident caused by reckless driving was taken up today before Colombo High Court Judge Rashmi Singappuli.
Recording of the testimony of the sixth witness for the prosecution, Manul Nimsuka Abeysundara, was led by Deputy Solicitor General Yohann Abeywickrama.
After considering submissions, the High Court Judge fixed May 5 for the continuation of the evidence examination.
According to the Attorney General, the case relates to allegations including covering up a road accident and suppression of evidence connected to an incident that occurred on February 28, 2016 in Rajagiriya, purportedly arising from reckless driving.
The accused named in the case are former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, his driver Dinuka Thusitha Kumara, and the former Officer‑in‑Charge of Welikada Police, Sudath Asmadala.
