COLOMBO (News 1st) : This is Gammadda's latest intiative to support communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah, and was launched today in Kotmale.
Gammadda rose the occasion, within 24 hours, to stand alongside our people.
Our first step was to provide immediate relief and support to those affected by the disaster.
To help those affected by the cyclone rebuild their lives, Gammadda has launched the second phase of its efforts.
With the support of Minderoo Foundation, one of the world’s largest volunteer organizations based in Australia, The second phase of the Gammedda Care and Dare operation will be held for three days starting today, focusing on the Badulla district.
It commenced today at Passara Central College.
Visitors to the Gammedda Care and Dare program had the opportunity to access a variety of services, including legal advice, identity card assistance, replacement of lost documents, career guidance, psychological counseling, and essential food items—all from one location.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by MTV CEO and Gammadda Deputy Leader Yasarath Kamalsiri, the Gammadda team, Passara Divisional Secretary Gangani Somaweera, Deputy Director of the Badulla District Disaster Management Center Udaya Kumara, ML Priyantha of the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority, Principal of Passara Central College Chandana Wickramasinghe, and other distinguished guests.
It is notable that the Gammadda Care and Dare camp operates throughout the day today, providing essential certificates and documents. A special zone for identity card services has also been set up.
Today, the National Apprenticeship and Technical Training Authority joined hands with the program to provide vocational guidance to support the community’s recovery and growth.
The Gammadda Care and Dare program is scheduled to continue tomorrow at Madulsima Tamil Maha Vidyalayam and the following day at Welimada Divurumpola Purana Rajamaha Viharaya for the local communities.
