COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan authorities have frozen assets worth an astonishing Rs. 93.27 million belonging to a suspected drug trafficker from Ibbagamuwa, Hangamuwa in Kurunegala.
The operation was carried out by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division, marking one of the largest seizures in recent times.
Police confirmed that the suspect’s luxury van, pickup truck, and five private bank accounts have been rendered inactive.
The combined balance in these accounts exceeds Rs. 73.3 million, while the vehicles alone are valued at more than Rs. 19.9 million.
Investigators also uncovered a foreign account holding USD 544, which has now been frozen as part of the probe.
This move follows an earlier seizure where over Rs. 280 million linked to the same suspect was deactivated by the Narcotics Control Bureau.
