COLOMBO (News 1st);Two people, including the owner of the cab involved in the Meegoda traffic accident that claimed the lives of six people, have surrendered to the police.

The police said that the two suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate's Court today.

Last Sunday night, six people were killed and seven others were injured when a cab crashed into a crowd waiting in a line at a Dansala near the Meegoda junction.

The cab driver involved in the accident had initially fled the scene.

When a team of police officers pursued and inspected the vehicle, they were only able to apprehend its driver at the time.

It was later revealed that he had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, the police had also sought public assistance yesterday to apprehend the three remaining suspects who were inside the cab and had fled.

One more suspect is yet to be arrested.
