COLOMBO(News 1st): Hindus across the World Celebrate the Deepavali Festival today. 

The festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over dark, lighting rows of lamps as a cherished tradition.

The Deepavali festival commemorates the defeat of the Demon Naragasun, by Lord Vishnu.

It is also considered as a day symbolizing the victory of good over evil and the arrival of peace and prosperity.

Hindus practice many rituals like lighting lamps, Drawing Kolam and worshiping God by offering Prayers.

Hindu devotees engage in religious practices today motivated by the unified prayer for light to spread within the hearts and minds of all.

They visit temples to light oil lamps, remembering their deceased relatives and joyfully celebrate this day by enjoying traditional sweets.
