Sri Lanka Earns USD 5.8B in 9 Months In Remittances

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka received USD 695.7 million in foreign remittances in September this year, marking a significant increase compared to USD 555.6 million recorded in September 2024, according to the Central Bank.

This reflects a year-on-year growth of USD 140.1 million in remittance inflows for the month.

Cumulative remittances for the first nine months of the year have reached USD 5,811.7 million, compared to USD 4,843.8 million during the same period last year — an increase of USD 967.9 million.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank reported that tourism earnings for September stood at USD 182.9 million, further strengthening the country’s foreign exchange inflows.
