COLOMBO (News 1st); The Civil Aviation Authority announced that 22 additional terminals have been cleared for seaplane operations after inspections.
Approval processes are also underway to begin water-based aviation near Colombo Port City.
The Authority said two new helicopter landing sites will soon be introduced in Colombo, while a program is being implemented to boost domestic aviation with state and private sector investment, focusing on tourism.
Meanwhile, a new seaplane service between Katunayake and Colombo was launched yesterday using Beira Lake as a water aerodrome.
Seaplane services had previously operated in Sri Lanka during 2011/2012 but were suspended due to strict security measures and related challenges.
