Final Rites Of Monks From Na Uyana Senasana Tragedy, Today

COLOMBO(News 1st);The final rites of the four monks who tragically passed away in the accident at the Malsiripura Na Uyana Aranya Senasana were held today at 1 p.m. at the Pansiyagama public cemetery.

The bodies of Ven. Malwanegama Samiddhi Thero, Ven. Nawalapitiye Uttarananda Thero, Ven. Nugegoda Vipassi Thero, and Ven. Udawalawa Santasumana Thero, who died when a cable car collapsed on Wednesday night, will be laid to rest today.

Meanwhile, the administration of the Namalu Uyana Aranya Senasana announced that the final rites of Ven. Dhammarakkhita Thero of Russia, who also lost his life in the accident, will be held in Sri Lanka.

The bodies of Ven. Dhammagavesi Thero of India and Ven. Dhamma-Rangsi Thero of Romania, who also perished in the accident, are scheduled to be taken to their home countries.

Two monks who sustained injuries in the accident and were admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital were discharged today after receiving treatment.

Four other monks continue to receive treatment at the same hospital.
