Colombo (News 1st) : The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has launched a comprehensive digitalization program.

Chief Justice P. Padman Surasena emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it is a crucial step towards delivering justice effectively, efficiently, and impartially to the people of Sri Lanka.

Key Features of the Digitalization Program:

Digital Court Management System: The new system will enable the bar to communicate with the bench, access case management systems, court diaries, and track the status of cases in real-time.

Elimination of Manual Processes: The digital system will gradually phase out manual processes, including bench rolls, diary sheets, daily case lists, motion books, and manual payment voucher slips.

Home-Grown Solution: The digitalization program is a homegrown solution, developed entirely by the Supreme Court staff, utilizing local expertise to address specific challenges faced by the Sri Lankan judicial system.

"We exercise judicial power of the people to the betterment of the people. So, it is in that spirit that we vote. We have an obligation, both legal and social, we have a duty to deliver justice effectively, efficiently and impartially to the people of this country," said Chief Justice P. Padman Surasena.

The Chief Justice expressed pride in the fact that the digitalization program was developed in-house, without any external assistance. He emphasized that this approach ensures that the solution is tailored to the specific needs of the Sri Lankan judicial system.

The digitalization program is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and transparency of the judicial system, enabling the Supreme Court to deliver justice more effectively to the people of Sri Lanka.
