Intense Lightning in Central and Eastern Region

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued a lightning advisory, warning of thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning in several regions across the country.

According to the advisory, areas in the Central, North Central, Eastern, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa provinces are likely to experience thundershowers with intense lightning activity.

Specific districts such as Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu, and Hambantota have also been identified as high-risk zones.

The department further cautioned that temporary strong winds may accompany the thundershowers.

Residents in affected areas are urged to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with lightning and strong winds.
