Investigations into 6,700 Disappearances Complete

Colombo (News 1st): The Office on Missing Persons has completed preliminary investigations into 6,700 cases of enforced disappearances in the country.

Its Chairman, Attorney-at-Law Mahesh Katulanda, said that the total number of forcibly disappeared persons stands at 16,700, and steps have been expedited to ensure justice for all victims.

He emphasized that no enforced disappearances have been reported in the last five years. Katulanda further noted that a special program is underway to investigate another 10,000 missing persons.
