COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and five other defendants were served indictments before the Colombo High Court over multiple charges, including the misuse of public funds.

The indictments were presented before High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.

Following the proceedings, each defendant was released on bail consisting of Rs. 100,000 in cash and two personal sureties of Rs. 1 million each.

The pre-trial conference for the case has been scheduled for October 1.

The Attorney General has filed five charges against the accused, alleging that during the 2014–2015 period, over Rs. 6 million belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation was unlawfully spent under the guise of flood relief efforts, thereby constituting a misuse of state funds.
