COLOMBO (News 1st) - The body of the late veteran actress Malini Fonseka, widely revered as the “Queen of Sri Lankan Cinema,” will be placed for public respect at the Tharangani Hall of the National Film Corporation from 10:00 AM until 11:00 PM today.
Her remains, currently kept at her residence in Madiwela, will be moved to the Tharangani Hall this morning, where the public will have the opportunity to pay their respects throughout the day.
Tomorrow morning (May 26), the body will be taken to Independence Square, Colombo, where the final rites will be performed with full state honours in the evening.
Last night, a large number of family members, fellow artists, and political leaders paid respect to her remains at her residence.
Malini Fonseka, who had been battling illness for some time, passed away early Saturday morning (May 24) while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
She was 78 years old at the time of her passing.
