DO NOT take the law into your own hands - Tiran

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said that if anyone attempts to take the law into their own hands or aid in the creation of such a situation, strict legal action will be taken against such individuals, irrespective of their position or status. 

In a statement on Tuesday (22), Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said that attention has been drawn to an incident where a public representative on Sunday (20) made an irresponsible statement, angering the people, based on an incident that took place in the estates. 

The statement goes on to note that the public representative in question had said on that day that one must counter-attack against violence for self-defense, and if the government and law do not protect them, it is the right of the people to do so.

The Public Security Minister appealed to all the people, including those from the estates, to not fall prey to such hateful sentiments, and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
