CAA earns over Rs. 132.6 million from Raids

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Consumer Affairs Authority says that they collected more than Rs. 132.6 million via shop raids conducted in the first six months of the year 2023.

During this period, a total of 13,493 raids were carried out across the country, with 2,411 raids conducted in the month of June alone.

Those convicted faced fines amounting to Rs. 23,641,000

The Consumer Affairs Authority revealed that they conducted 18 large-scale raids in July, focusing on issues including but not limited to the non-display of proper price, selling products above regulated prices, and selling expired goods.

The authority also emphasized their commitment to increasing raids to ensure food safety.
