COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested one of the country’s leading drug traffickers, seizing a massive stash of Kush cannabis weighing 21 kilograms and 668 grams, along with foreign currency worth Rs. 1.5 million.

Police revealed that the suspect, a 34-year-old resident of Wattala, had returned to Sri Lanka from Bangkok, Thailand, carrying only a handbag.

Investigations indicate that prior to his arrival, he had dispatched a separate consignment of drugs through another individual.

Acting on intelligence, the Police Narcotics Bureau raided the suspect’s Wattala residence yesterday, where they discovered 20 sealed packages of Kush cannabis hidden inside unopened travel bags.

The estimated street value of the narcotics is a staggering Rs. 216.68 million, making this one of the largest Kush seizures in recent times.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today as investigations continue into his international drug network.
