IMF Chief assures President of committed support to improve living standards

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in Paris, France on Thursday (22).

During the meeting, the IMF Chief welcomed the strong ownership by Sri Lankan government to address current economic challenges.

She noted that the IMF is committed to support Sri Lanka’s economic reforms to improve living standards for its people.

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe is in Paris, France for the New Global Financial Pact Summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe was welcomed at the Palais Brogniart by France's Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna.

French President Emmanuel Macron has invited world leaders, including President Ranil Wickremesinghe, to participate in the Global Leaders’ Summit for a New Global Financing Pact.

World leaders, heads of international organizations and activists are gathering in Paris for a two-day summit aimed at seeking better responses to tackle poverty and climate change issues by reshaping the global financial system.
