COLOMBO (News 1st); The Federation of University Teachers's Associations said that University Teachers will attend to academic activities starting Monday (17).

FUTA, however, said that university teachers will not engage in the process of evaluating the answer scripts of the G. C. E. Advanced Level examination.

The Federation of University Teachers's Associations went on strike on the 9th of March against the unjust tax regime introduced by the government, and thus stepped away from attending academic activities across all state universities.

The strike by FUTA members also delayed the process of evaluating the answer scripts of the 2022 G. C. E. Advanced Level examination.

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that he hope FUTA would respond positively to the process of evaluating the answer scripts of the G. C. E. Advanced Level examination.

At the same time, the Professionals Trade Union Collective said it would intensify its action due to the government's failure to address their issues.

Spokesperson for the Government Medical Officers' Association Dr. Chamil Jayasinghe told News 1st that trade unions will meet to discuss the matter in due course.
