Inmates break out of Thaldena Prison Rehabilitation Centre

COLOMBO (News 1st); Nine inmates held at the Thaldena Prison Rehabilitation Centre in Badulla, have escaped, said Prison's Spokesperson, Chandana Ekanayake on Monday (17).

He said that nine inmates engaged in fasting for the month of Ramadan had fled the premises early on Monday (17) morning.

However, two of them were detained by prison officials later.

The Prisons Spokesperson said that a joint search operation with Sri Lanka Police was launched to locate and detain the missing inmates.
